Symptoms

• Error: 'SIM not detected'
• Device showing no signal
• SIM icon showing in notification bar

What happens and why

The device SIM card is not being recognized by the device, causing a lack of signal.

Resolution steps

HTC is identifying if the current software build is impacted by this error.  There are many fixes that have been included with the recent updates and you will see significant device improvements with the latest software version.

To fix SIM card not detected, follow these steps:

1. Verify the device is on current software.
   1. From the home screen swipe left to Applications
   2. Tap Settings.
   3. Tap About.
   4. Tap More Info.
   5. Verify the firmware is on the current version of 1532.20.20008.531.
   6. If not on the current version, complete the following:
      1. Tap Back to return to the settings menu.
      2. Tap Phone Update.
      3. Tap Check Now or Download.
   7. Test if the issue is resolved. If the issue persists, complete the following steps:
2. Toggle Airplane mode on and then off.
   1. From the home screen swipe left to Applications.
   2. Tap Settings.
   3. Tap Airplane mode to turn on.
   4. Wait 30 Seconds.
   5. Tap Airplane mode to turn off.
   6. Verify that you have signal in the notification bar at the top of the phone.
3. Remove and replace SIM tray.
   1. Before removing the SIM, be sure to power off the device.
   2. Remove the SIM tray using the SIM ejector tool.
   3. Remove and replace the SIM onto the SIM tray, ensuring the SIM is properly seated before placing the SIM tray back into the device.

   4. Verify that you have signal in the notification bar at the top of the phone.

4. Replace SIM card.
   1. After replacing the SIM card, be sure that it is properly seated onto the SIM tray before placing it back into the device. Be sure that a Cancel location is performed in iHLR.
