Before performing a master reset using hardware buttons, first attempt:
- Soft reset, see Soft reset - T-Mobile myTouch 3G / 3.5 mm / LE.

- Master reset, see Master reset - T-Mobile myTouch 3G.
If the phone is locked, frozen, or unresponsive, you can perform a master reset using the hardware keys instead of the menu. A master reset restores the original factory settings and may erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available).
To perform a master reset using hardware keys, follow these steps:
- Back up your data. See: Prepare for a master reset and back up data on Android
- Turn off the device.
- Note: If the device is unresponsive and does not turn off, remove and then reinsert the battery.
- Press and hold the Home key.
- While already holding Home, press and hold the Back key.

- While holding both keys, press the Power key and release it. Do not hold it.
- Release the keys when you see Androids on skateboards.
Note: If you do not see this, you have the incorrect software version for this proceedure. See: Master reset using hardware buttons - T-Mobile myTouch 3G with Android 1.6. - If you see a CLEARSTORAGE option, select it.

- Press the Trackball (action) to select YES.
- When the device says Send, press the green Send key.

- Wait as the device turns off and back on.
- If unable to access the internet after performing the reset, see Verify the Access Point Name (APN) and internet data connection - T-Mobile myTouch 3G / myTouch 3G Slide / myTouch 4G.
