Hello,
I have a Lumia 521 on a prepaid T-Mobile plan.
I live in an area with no cell coverage so I use wifi calling at home to make calls. It works fine.
However, whenever I travel from my rural home (where there is no cell coverage) to any nearby city (where there is coverage) I have to restart the phone to be able to connect to the cell network.
I have had Android phones in the past and have never had this problem. They have connected to the cellular network fine each and every time.
In case it is relevant, I often use the Here navigation app as I drive a lot for work. The app connects at home using wifi then works fine until my destination (where I can't make calls since I then have no cell service).
Is this a problem with the Nokia 521 design or a flaw in Windows Phone 8? The navigation app? Or something else...?
To clarify, I am not talking about being able to continue a call I started on wifi calling. I don't expect to be able to do that. It is simply an issue of the phone never finding the cellular signal when I am in range after I have been on wifi calling at home. I get the 'no bars' of service icon when in a 4g area.
Many thanks in advance. It would be very useful to get this figured out as restarting the phone every time I drive somewhere from home is something of a pain.... There have been a number of missed and important calls and texts!
