I've been a T-Mobile user since March 23, 2010. I shared a line with four other family members and enjoyed decent service in my area and over time even had less money coming out of my pocket over the duration of my contracts
3 days ago, I decided it was better to branch off onto my own and have my line under my own name because I wanted to be in charge of my own finances. We did the change of responsibility, and my bill naturally went up because now it was individual. I was okay with paying a little more, but the amount they were and are asking for is insane(about 102$ compared to around ~65$ before.)
Herein lies the problem I'm having: Normally when I don't like what I'm paying I reduce my plan...but T-Mobile has gotten rid of the option of reducing for older customers. I can't lower my minutes(I use about 100-140 of the unlimited I have a month, 500 would be fine like I USED to be able to change to) and I have unlimited texting and data.
Because I am now under my own line, T-Mobile acts as if I'm a new customer and basically tell me they do not care about my issue(because it was under someone else's name the other 3 years) and yet they want to hold my accountable for another 18 months of service this way. Why should I have to pay for service I won't use? (In the words of the rep I spoke to on the phone, he said "There's no way for him to change it in the system because "those plans" do not exist anymore. How can T-Mobile hold me under a tier system that they admit they don't even use anymore? My only options are to pay a HUGE migration fee(200$) or terminate (200$), and to be honest, I think I might terminate if this issue is not resolved. It's not fair and with what I'm paying any other carrier can offer me more for the same price or less.
Sincerely,
A bitterly disappointed T-Mobile customer
