Mobile hotspot via Wi-Fi
Set up mobile hotspot
To set up or configure a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down and tap Settings.
- Tap Network Connections.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot.
- Tap the Mobile Hotspot Switch to On.
- To adjust if other devices can connect:
- Swipe up on the screen.
- Next to 'Allow devices to connect,' tap the check box to:
- Select the check box and allow devices to connect
- Clear the check box and deny other devices from connecting.
- Tap the Menu icon at bottom-right and then tap Configure.
- Tap the Name field to change your device's SSID and tap the Password field to change the password other devices must enter to connect.
Note: Tap the show password icon to see your current password. - Swipe up on the screen to update any other desired settings and tap Save.
Note: You cannot change the maximum number of connections.
Turn on/off mobile hotspot
To turn on or turn off a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Network Connections.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot.
- Tap the Mobile Hotspot switch to turn on or turn off.
Note: After turning on, your phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID) so you can connect to it with up to five computers or other devices. Your phone’s default SSID is 'T-Mobile Blackberry [XXXX]'. When Smartphone Mobile Hotspot is enabled, your phone will display the Hotspot icon in the Home screen Status bar.
Tethering via USB
To share your mobile data connection with a computer over a USB cable, follow these steps:
First-time access
- Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
- From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Network Connections.
- Tap Internet Tethering.
- Review the information and tap Next.
- Tap Next, then tap Next again.
- Tap the Connect using field, and then tap USB.
- Tap Next.
- Tap the Internet Tethering switch to turn on. When your phone starts sharing its connection, your phone will display the Tethering icon in the Home screen Status bar.
After first-time access
- Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
- From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Network Connections.
- Tap Internet Tethering.
- Tap the Internet Tethering switch to turn on. When your phone starts sharing its connection, your phone will display the Tethering icon in the Home screen Status bar.
