I bought a Blackberry Bold yesterday on my way to the airport, I also went ahead and renewed my contract to get the "extra" discount. While at the T-Mobile store I explained to the clerk that I am on my way out of the country and I don't want to take my SIM out of my Iphone so I would just like to use my Blackberry when I get there. The clerk assured me that it was very simple to do, all I had to do was pay for the phone and then call Customer Care and request my unlock code which would take just "a few hours". As I am walking out of the T-Mobile store, I dial 611 on my Iphone and follow all of the prompts to get to a human being. After processing the request the line cut off, so I call again and the lady on the phone informs me that I need to insert my SIM into the Blackberry "at least once" before the request would process. After getting off the phone with her I took my SIM out of my Iphone and inserted it into the Blackberry for the next 2.5 hours. I even had to make and receive a few calls on it. Before checking in my bags at the airport I took my SIM out, put it back in my Iphone and packed up my Blackberry into the luggage that I checked in. This afternoon while in transit waiting for my next flight i received an e-mail saying my unlock code request would not be processed because the SIM wasn't in the Blackberry. I called T-Mobile and the lady put in a new request, meanwhile I am upset because she said that it would take 24-48 hours from today which could possibly leave me without a phone for 2 days in another country. I was transferred to someone who could "better assist me" and that person told me that the SIM is supposed to be in the phone for the duration of the "buyer remorse period" and that I would have to wait until after that date before requesting an unlock code. Can anyone really tell me what is going on and let me know if I actually just spent all that money and renewed a 2 year contract for nothing?
