Unable to Receive Short-Code Messages

Hello, I recently got a new phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) and plan (Simple Choice, $80/mo for 2 people). Unfortunately, my short-code messages don't work because they're all blocked. I used to have Metro PCS, similar plan, and they worked there perfectly. This is a huge inconvenience because I would like to receive coupons from stores like Target, alerts, etc.

 

I tried calling T-Mobile twice. Each representative would go on a long rant about why the service is  blocked. I tried to ask for their supervisor, but that didn't work out too well either. Please help.
