Possibly fraudulent automated survey

This afternoon I received an automated survey call purporting to be from T-Mobile and using the Caller ID (877) 453-1304 (which is T-Mobile's customer service number).

Fully automated, the recorded voice promised a "discount" if I completed the satisfaction survey. I punched through the five or so questions with a 1-4 ranking. At the end, it asked me to record my name, record my address, punch in my ZIP code, and then -- ominously -- punch in the last four digits of my SSN to confirm my account.

I did so without thinking too hard (long week). Then the recorded voice said a representative would contact me about my "discount." That made me wonder.

I called T-Mobile customer service two hours later and they said they had not sent me a satisfaction survey. We added a verbal password to my account to avoid any account changes. But the customer service rep said she hadn't heard of an automated survey scam to date.

What gave me pause is, if this was not a legit T-Mobile survey, it had the same automated voice as T-Mobile's auto-attendant when you call in for customer service, and the same approach to recording your name. If it's a scam, it's very sophisticated and mimics T-Mobile's own system.
