I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem with the phone, and if so, what the solution was to resolve this.
The phone has been answering calls on its own, without any prompts. I have researched this issue online and have found quite a few threads that discuss this known-to-SIII-users issue, yet I haven't seen an official fix for this.
What I have discovered on these various threads is that phones will automatically answer an incoming call without any direction, and it's typically when there is background noise. In my case:
Music was playing in car -- phone answered itself.
Was at a friend's house and we were all talking -- phone answered itself.
Was talking at home with guests -- phone answered itself.
When it happened twice in a row this evening, unbeknownst to me, I later tested this 'background noise' theory and was able to replicate the auto answering a few times, but not every time.
When the issue first came up a few days ago (I've only had the phone 1 week), I searched online and it was suggested that I go to the phone settings and accessory settings for call and then make sure to CHECK the box for automatic answering. Even though it seems odd that it should only apply when using a headset, this seems to have resolved the issue for some people.
Another person had resolution when they made sure that their Smart Stay was enabled.
And ATT customers had resolution when a feature that they have, that tmobile users don't have, was disabled.
But, even though I have tried these 2 options available to me, the issue still exists.
I don't think I need to tell anyone how embarassing it is to have your phone automatically accept an incoming call when you are having a private discussion and think that the call is going to go to voicemail, and not autmatically answer!
Has anyone else had this issue come up yet? And if so, what are you doing to fix it?
This privacy issue is COMPLETELY unacceptable, and Samsung needs to resolve this issue immediately.
