Smartphone Equality?

$

Hello,

I’ve made enough on time payments in order to qualify for smartphone equality. (I’m well past 12 months, but only now interested in using the upgrade). I was wondering if anyone has had any successful experiences with this? I’ve only ever seem to run into people having problems getting it (because the down payment ends up being extraordinarily high). I would just really hate to go into the store expecting to upgrade for a down payment at little to no cost only for them to tell me it’s $200-300 lol I’m interested in upgrading to the iPhone XR and when I spoke with a representative, they were unable to switch my account to postpaid via phone and informed me that I would need to visit a T-Mobile store. Has anyone recently upgraded to the XR under this program and if so did you have to make a down payment? Thanks!

Refill Egift Card Expiration

When does a refill Ecard expire?

i purchased a 10.00 Egift refill card online from Walmart as a test and applied to my balance.  I would like to purchase 3-4 $80.00 refill cards for my prepaid $75.00 account and hold on to them for a few years and use when need.  Or maybe give them away in the future as gifts.

I believe there is a 90 day expiration, but does that start when I originally purchase the card  online from Walmart?  Or when I apply the pin number to my Tmobile account and redem the card?

Thanks!

This from Walmart:

Redemption Instruction have changed. Please follow the instruction below.

To redeem this pin:

  1. Dial 1-800-385-1977 from your mobile phone or from any phone.
  2. Enter the pin number when prompted.

Unused minutes expire 90 days after re-demption

Is anyone else's OnePlus 6T on backorder as well?

I ordered my phone a couple weeks ago and was told it was back-ordered due to popularity. I was okay with waiting a little extra time. It was expected to ship out between Nov 6 - Nov 8, but I still haven't gotten a shipping update. Today, the order status still says "Your order is being processed." T-Mobile reps have told me that this delay is because they still lack the stock and are waiting on incoming shipments. I would have believed this, if not for the fact that when I check T-Mobile.com, the website said the phone was in stock for online order and is available to ship by Nov 12 (today). What's going on?

Why is my tethering speed so slow?

$

My issue is similar to other threads I have seen here. I am a on a grandfathered Simple Choice NA plan with 10 GB of high speed data. I am not close to using all of my data. My data speeds are always around 10 Mbps (or higher) download and 8 Mbps upload directly on my phone. (On the SpeedTest I just ran I got 25.5 download and 8.11 upload.) However, when I USB tether to my laptop (or desktop), data speeds drop to about 0.3 Mbps download and 0.1 Mbps upload.

I have multiple lines with T-Mobile and multiple phones. It happens on all phones and all lines. The issue is not related to my location because data speeds on the phone are adequate. As soon as I USB tether, speeds drop drastically. The issue is not related to tethering to one particular laptop either. I have been having this issue for the last 1.5 years and in that time I have used several different laptops. Prior to 1.5 years ago, tethering speeds were fantastic. My T-Mobile plan has not changed during this time.

My phones include a Galaxy S8 and a Galaxy S8+ (but the problem has happened with prior phones, as I mentioned). My phones are all T-Mobile branded devices. My current laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad. I do not have to use a 3rd party app on my phone (USB tethering is built in to Android on the S8, S8+) and I do not need a 3rd party app on my laptop. When I turn on USB tethering, I get a proper connection. The issue is that it is very SLOW.

I also tested the mobile HotSpot feature. For about the first 5-10 minutes, I had good speeds while connected with my laptop, but then the speeds dropped to the 0.2 or 0.3 Mbps range and stayed there the rest of the day. That looks like throttling to me...

Over the last 1.5 years I have called T-Mobile support many times regarding this issue. Tickets have been opened. Unfortunately, no solution. Usually the support person is very nice and promises to follow up with me. So far not a single person who has made me that promise has actually followed up.

Multiple T-Mobile support reps have told me that my plan has no throttling of my 10 GB data allotment. I used to be a huge T-Mobile fan. I have had my current account for over 6 years with multiple lines. Before that I was with Verizon for 2 years, but prior to Verizon I was also with T-Mobile a long time. (I was a loyal T-Mobile customer even when their network was not as competitive as it is now.)

Can anyone from T-Mobile solve this for me?

Just a few minutes ago I tried to ADD FUNDS to my account. TWICE! TWICE I got as far as putting in the letter of my first name, and I wind up getting booted off the page. Now I'm just sitting here shaking my head, and smiling, what was T-Mobile thinking buying Sprint!? Oh, this will pass. There is still a visit to a corporate store, using the short code in my phone, Customer Service, and the T-Mobile cards (if you can find them). Wish us on prepaid accounts could have back the app. It worked great for me. BTW, who's the JERK that took it away?

T-mobile Locked my Iphone 7 IMEI and refuses to unlock or help me, I dont have T-mobile account

I have had the absolute worst experience with T-Mobile customer care, where they are refusing to remove a lock on my Iphone, I dont have a service with T-mobile how could they lock my Iphone with IMEI: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I am running behind T-Mobile spending hours with customer care to resolve lock on my Iphone 7 imposed by T-Mobile.

Purchased mobile from : Walmart store on 26/11/2017 thanks giving offer -- Verizon is the carrier (paid in Full to verizon 699 + 49 Tax),  I am in my home country opned the mobile to use a sim card from india, it shows error "SIM NOT VALID", spoke to Apple store, called verizon nothing they could find at last after spending hours on call with Apple they confirmed that its locked by T-Mobile.

Apple and verizon tried to call T-mobile they refuse to unlock, I tried calling customer care first they denied that IMEI is not in their database, later when I said I have a mail from Apple they confirmed it is locked by T-mobile then they checked Iphone activation tool and they are able to find the IMEI which is locked by T-Mobile.

When I ask them to unlock they say I need to have an account with them to unlock, or I should go to walmart to get it unlocked. Its a comman sense question if it is locked by T-Mobile how can walmart unlock it. Non of the technical support team was helping me in fixing removing the lock. How can T-Mobile put a lock on My IPhone, I have wasted lot of time and tired and posting here ..

Texting issues when connected to WiFi

$

I've been having an issue for about a week now where as soon as my phone connects to Wifi, I begin having issues sending and receiving text messages. I've been having the same issue as well as my Girlfriend, her Mom, and her Daughter all having the exact same issues when on WiFi. This includes 4 different phones, 3 different Samsung models and an iPhone. All T-Mobile devices. This issue seems to only be with text messaging. No issues with calls or any type of Data or internet related App. Just sending and receiving text messages.

I called support last week because I was certain this was a known issue for many people, but was told it was not. I went through all the trouble shooting steps with the team and nothing they could do seemed to fix the issue. I cleared my cache, checked my data to ensure it was all setup correctly, I'm even now using a brand new Note 9 and still having the same issues. When I called originally I was using my s7 Edge.

I've taken a few photos where you can see the change.

When you're not on WiFi you can see the 4gLTE symbol next to the service indicator and it seems to work fine.

https://postimg.cc/image/xsv6evu2v/

As soon as I connect to WiFi, that 4gLTE symbol goes away. I'm pretty sure it never did this before.

https://postimg.cc/image/r2ep5gemv/

Then when sending I get these errors..

https://postimg.cc/image/nisrfmwhj/

On top of the issue with sending failures, sometimes after taking minutes to send, the person who is receiving the message will get up to 4 copies of the same message. I will also receive up to 4 copies of a message when getting texts. So it's an issue with incoming and outgoing.

This seems to be something that change with an update/service. Not the device or anything. When I got my note 9, the 1st thing it had me do was connect  to WiFi and I immediately noticed this same issue (no 4gLTE symbol) before installing a single APP or anything.

I'd like to point out, this is not always an issue. Most time it works pretty well, however it's a daily occurrence for the last week. Happens while I have full cell and 500MB+ WiFi service.

Please advise how this is to be resolved.

Thanks,

Matthew

Trade in Shipping Labels

I bought a new iPhone XS with the Costco & T-Mobile Trade-in Deal.

I submitted promotion rebate request on T-mobile Promotions online after purchase.

I was told from Costco representative that the shipping label for trade-in of my old iPhone 6s will be coming in by mail.

How long does it usually take to receive the label?

Is there a way for me to just print the label online? It is not shown on my account at this time.

Voicemails not showing up until days after they were left

I'm fuming. I'm paying money for a service that is not giving me missed call notifications, not giving me voicemail notifications, and does not even have voicemails arrive in my inbox until days after they were left (which I can only find out by checking manually!).

From what I've seen this is a long term issue with you guys too. Congrats on the great service. I didn't want that interview anyways.

Smartphone Mobile HotSpot (Wi-Fi sharing/tethering)

$

Smartphone Mobile HotSpot (SMHS) – also referred to as Wi-Fi Sharing or tethering – is a great way to securely share your smartphone or tablet's Internet connection with your laptop, tablet, and other Wi-Fi-enabled devices on T-Mobile’s high-speed nationwide network.

What's Smartphone Mobile Hotspot?

SMHS is a benefit included with T-Mobile ONE™ and Simple Choice™ plans. It lets you share your phone, tablet or Wi-Fi Hotspot's high-speed data with other Wi-Fi enabled or tethered devices.

How to use your Mobile Hotspot

To use SMHS, you'll need a Wi-Fi-enabled or Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet.

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi Sharing (SMHS) on your Wi-Fi-capable device. You can check the Devices page for steps.
  2. Connect the other devices to your secured Wi-Fi signal. If you don't want to use Wi-Fi, you can use a USB cable to connect to other devices (additional software and setup may be required on your device -- you can check the Devices page for steps).

Things you should know about Mobile HotSpot

  • SMHS only works in 4G and 4G LTE coverage. View our coverage map.
  • A data feature is required on your line for SMHS to function.
  • You can share your Internet connection with up to 10 devices. While connected, you can still make and receive calls and texts on your phone.
  • For Simple Choice customers, once you reach your high-speed data allotment, your SMHS and on-device data speed is reduced to 2G speeds. Customers with a Simple Choice unlimited plan will have their SMHS speeds reduced after using 14 GB of mobile hotspot data. In either case, your data won’t stop — you’ll just experience slower speeds until the end of your billing cycle.
  • Customers with T-Mobile ONE™ can enjoy unlimited SMHS at 3G speeds, or 20GB of 4G LTE SMHS with the T-Mobile ONE Plus add-on.
  • If you're having issues connecting your game systems, TVs, or other devices to your Smartphone Mobile HotSpot, contact your device manufacturer for support. We can't guarantee SMHS will be compatible with all devices.

To see your plan details and SMHS bucket, log in to the T-Mobile app and click ACCOUNT. Your plan is displayed at the top of the page with line details below. You can see your Usage and SMHS bucket by clicking Plans and Usage Details > Usage.

Why password has to be exactly 8 characters long?

$

Well some technical genius at T-Mobile has now decide that your login password for the website portal must be EXACTLY 8 characters long!

Seems to me that is less secure because now a hacker can only needs to check all combinations of passwords that are 8 characters long.

I can see setting a MINIMUM number of characters (6, 7, 8?) but why cant my password be longer than 8, which would greatly increase the chance of getting hacked.

Can't answer calls when digits and main line are active

I have my primary number on my iPhone XS.  I have a Digits line tied to that number running on an iPhone SE.  Sometimes I prefer to use the SE like when I'm working out in the yard.  When somebody calls my primary number it rings both phones but I can't pick up on either...the call immediately disconnects.  If I put my XS in airplane mode then I can pick up on my SE, but I really would prefer not to have to do that each time.  Running the Digits app on my SE doesn't fix the issue either.  Why do calls immediately disconnect when I pick up on either phone? Is this normal behavior?

Cannot login to T-mobile

We signed up for a new business account and added one line about 4 weeks ago to try out the service. Tried to signup to my T-mobile and have never been able to login. I have called several times and demonstrated the issue and they are still researching it. Trouble ticket number is 29928166. The issue is every time we try to login we get the attached. Certainly this cannot be the issue for close to a month and there must be something wrong with the account. The app also provides a similar message. Anybody from t-mobile support here who can help before we give up?

Need help with LG G6 uconnect crashes

$

Need help diagnosing why after the Oct '18 security update,  the bluetooth on my G6 crashes.

I have tried the following which did not solve the issue.

- safe mode

- factory reset

If I disable the media link and just use the phone features, I CAN use the phone over bluetooth.

Is there any way to troubleshoot this further?

Is TMobile or LG working on a fix?

My car's bluetooth radio is from 2014, so neither cutting edge nor an antique.

Any further into would be appreciated.

Huawei Honor 5X - not receiving texts

$

Hi all,

I'm stumped.  My wife has a Huawei Honor 5X that I bought new from Amazon just over a month ago.  All was working fine until a couple days ago - texts she was sending were not coming through, and now today, her texts come through OK, but she cannot receive any.  At all.

I've tried checking the APN and just about every other setting, restarted it numerous times, removed and cleaned the SIM card among other things.  Nothing's worked so far.  It's just odd that they send fine, but won't come in.  We use Hangouts for the time being as it works fine, but it is not set as the default SMS app on her phone.  I tried that, and it didn't receive anything when set as the default SMS app.

Anyone have any other ideas or some insight as w=to what could be causing the issue?

Thanks!
