Binge On® how-tos

$

0

Learn steps for Binge On, including turning it off (or back on) if you are on a Simple Choice or prepaid plan.

Managing your Binge On settings

As a T-Mobile customer, Binge On is automatically enabled so your data will stretch up to three times further when you are streaming video. You do have the option to turn it off (or back on) at any time. If you disable Binge On, video streaming is no longer optimized, resulting in your 4G LTE data being consumed faster, and all video streaming will count toward your high-speed data. You're free to disable Binge On at any time, and then enable it again whenever you like. It's your choice.

If you decide to turn it off, you should stop any video streaming before you make a change to your Binge On status.

Managing Binge On using self-service short codes

You can use these short codes to manage your Binge On settings directly from your device:

Short codeWhat it does
#BNG# (#264#)Checks your Binge On status.
#BOF# (#263#)Turns it off.
#BON# (#266#)Turns it back on.

Managing Binge On through My T-Mobile

For postpaid accounts

  1. Go to My T-Mobile and log in to your account.
  2. Select PROFILE in the upper right corner.
  3. If you have more than one line on your account, select the line you want to manage from the drop-down list located in the upper right area.
  4. Select Media Settings.
  5. Next to Binge On, select if you want it ON or OFF.

For prepaid and some T-Mobile for Business accounts

  1. Go to My T-Mobile and log in to your account.
  2. On the home screen, look under the My current usage tile.
  3. Next to Binge On, select if you want it ON or OFF.

Note: If you have multiple lines on your account, you can do this for each one by choosing the person's line in the drop-down menu in the upper right.

T-Mobile for Business accounts: A call to Business Care is required to enable or disable Binge On on most accounts.

For postpaid accounts

  2. Select Profile Settings.

  6. Select Continue> enter PIN > click Accept.

Note: As a reminder, if Binge On is off, your favorite services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Sling, ESPN and more won't stream for free and will count against your high-speed data allotment.

Lifetime Coverage Guarantee

$
0
0

You can try out the T-Mobile network risk-free with our 30-day, money-back Lifetime Coverage Guarantee™.

How it works

The Lifetime Coverage Guarantee is available to all T-Mobile customers and employees who activate with or upgrade to an eligible device with JUMP! On Demand. The guarantee lasts as long as you're making monthly payments for that device to T-Mobile.

Just give the T-Mobile network a try using your new JUMP! On Demand device. If you're not satisfied with your T-Mobile coverage, and if it is:

  • Within the first 30 days of service
You can simply return your device. You'll receive a full refund on your service and device cost, with no strings attached.

  • Past the first 30 days of service or after paying the first full bill
You can get a refund for your current month of service and we'll unlock your device to take it with you.

You can keep your JUMP! On Demand lease payments, even if you switch to another carrier. However, any promotional pricing attached with your device stops when you leave, which can result in an increase in the amount of your monthly payments.

*Not available to customers in Puerto Rico or through third-party retailers.

Activation of benefits

You must enact your benefits before cancelling service or porting to another company at the following:

Things you should know if you decide to leave

We'll be sorry to see you go, but if you find that T-Mobile's coverage is not for you, here are the things you need to think about before cancelling.

  • You must notify T-Mobile and request an unlock before porting your number to another carrier. This ensures that your monthly JUMP! On Demand payments continue. If you cancel before letting us know, the entire balance for your JUMP! On Demand device will be due, and we won't be able to reset it back to monthly payments.
  • If you cancel T-Mobile service before activating the Lifetime Coverage Guarantee and request your device to be unlocked, you won't be able to take advantage of the offer.
  • No fees associated with starting up at another carrier are covered by T-Mobile.
  • T-Mobile will refund your SIM starter kit cost, and you won't be charged a restocking fee.
  • You're responsible for any charges relating to third-party services, incremental services, or features that you've added to your phone.
  • If you didn't initially sign up for Device Protection, you can still sign up for PHP at the time of cancellation, without a three-point inspection. Just let us know when you call customer service or when you visit one of our retail locations.

FAQs

What if I change my data plan after adding one of the Napster services?

If you change to a plan that is eligible for the same-priced Napster service, your subscription will remain the same. If you no longer want Napster when you change, you'll have to cancel your Napster subscription separately.

If you change to a plan that is eligible for a different price, your Napster service will be canceled. You can easily add the service back for the eligible price while not losing any of your Napster account settings.

Why does it say I already have an account when I try to sign up?

Napster accounts are associated with your email address. If it states that you already have an active Napster subscription, you'll need to cancel your current Napster account so you can sign up again to get the special T-Mobile pricing.

I purchased a Napster subscription from T-Mobile and then signed up via iTunes. Why am I being charged twice?

If you signed up for Napster through another service, you need to cancel that subscription right away. In order to get the correct pricing that we reserved for our customers, make sure that you sign up through T-Mobile. Napster unRadio is automatically included with eligible Simple Choice™ Plans with Unlimited 4G LTE data on your smartphone on our network, while Napster Premier is available at a discount to many of our customers.

FAQs

What do I need to do to use the eSIM with T-Mobile?

Getting started is easy. You’ll first need an iPhone XS, XS Max, or XR with iOS 12.1.1 or later purchased from T-Mobile or unlocked if purchased from another retailer. Then download the T-Mobile eSIM app from the App Store. Enter an email address to create your new T-Mobile prepaid account and then follow the activation steps to select your plan. Current T-Mobile customers will have to enter a new email address if it’s already connected to a T-Mobile account.

For more instructions on how to set up and use your eSIM line after the activation has completed, please visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209044.

What plans are available for T-Mobile eSIM activation?

T-Mobile offers three prepaid plans for eSIM activation. They are:

  • T-Mobile ONE Prepaid with unlimited voice, text, and data for $70; 30 day expiry with renewal option
  • Simply Prepaid with unlimited voice, text, and 10GB of LTE data for $40; 30 day expiry with renewal option
  • Tourist Plan with 1000 minutes, unlimited text, and 2GB of LTE data for $30; 21 day expiry

Do I need to pay any fees to activate eSIM with T-Mobile?

At this time there are no fees to activate eSIM with T-Mobile.

Can I activate eSIM as a standalone account at T-Mobile?

Yes. If you already have an iPhone from another provider and want to activate a prepaid line, you can activate eSIM as your standalone T-Mobile account. However, if your iPhone is locked to another service provider, you will need to unlock it before you can activate a T-Mobile eSIM.

Why are you choosing to support eSIM with an app?

T-Mobile is making it simple to light up eSIM. Just download the app and select a prepaid plan that works for you. No trekking to a store or juggling two different physical SIM cards – adding a line is done from the convenience of the app, wherever you are. The eSIM app was built for travelers coming to the U.S., existing T-Mobile customers who want a secondary pre-paid line and anyone who wants to take the Un-carrier out for a test drive to try out America’s fastest 4G LTE network.

Pay as you Go Legacy + Tourist Plan?

$

Hi all

I am a frequent visitor to US, and maintain a Pay as you Go Legacy account for phone/text service for use during short trips.

Is it possible to purchase a Tourist Plan to access data as well when I am on a longer trip?  If yes, will my account revert back to Pay as you Go Legacy after the Tourist Plan expires?

Thanx

Missing Discounts for Existing Advantage Program

$

I've had the Advantage Program since before 2014. I saw a promotion to add several lines, so I verified I could do so without losing the benefits of my Advantage Program:

If you were part of the Advantage Program on or before March 31, 2014, you'll continue to receive a monthly discount. Even if you add a line after March 31, 2014, that new line is also eligible for the discount. Keep in mind, we may need to verify your information and current plan selection periodically to validate your eligibility, such as if you're still employed with a company.

The Advantage Program discounts were removed from my existing line and are now being applied to only one of the cheapest of the new phone lines. I have verified my eligibility each year without fail and have the confirmation from the most recent verification. How do I keep the Advantage Program discount for all lines?

Thanks!

"T-Mobile Wi-Fi" displays when wifi is ON. "No Service" displays when wifi is OFF

Hi,

I'm using iPhone 8 Plus with T-Mobile service. Since last Saturday, there is no service on my phone, I can not make any phone calls or sending any messages. I did reset all the Settings, even tried to erase all content and reset all the settings. Then if the wifi is ON, the T-Mobile Wi-Fi has been displayed instead of T-Mobile and there is no signal. I can make phone calls or send messages.

T-Mobile.jpg

But, if wifi is OFF, I CANNOT make any phone calls because there is no service.

Sometimes, the T-Mobile displayed but I still can not make any phone calls until the wifi is ON.

Could you guys help me with this case? thank you.

I'm not getting calls

This has been going on for a long time now. I don't get a lot of calls. I talk to people, they say they call me but I don't hear the phone ring. I don't even receive their voicemails. Sometimes I only get voicemails after they attempted to call me but my phone didn't ring. This is a HUGE problem. Is there anyone else having the same problem?

Moisture Detection notification on USB port won't go away on my V30

My "Check USB Port" notification has been on for 5 days now and won't go away. The phone is definitely completely dry and I have tried turning it off an on again multiple times. In fact, I have to turn it off to get it to charge because this feature blocks charging. I installed the Android 8.0.0 update for my LG V30 about a week before this started.

Domestic data roaming

$
0
0

Your device data works a little differently when it's on a non-T-Mobile network, and it has some restrictions.

T-Mobile partners with other U.S. carriers to provide service in some areas of the country. When T-Mobile customers use data on these partner networks, this is called "domestic data roaming." While roaming, data services work a little differently and have some restrictions.

How it works

T-Mobile is always looking for ways to offer as much coverage as possible on our own network, so we must sometimes rely on domestic roaming partners to broaden our domestic coverage. To make this possible, we coordinate with third-party roaming partners in certain areas where we don’t have our own network coverage.

In these cases, we don’t have the same ability to provide unlimited data roaming. When you travel outside of T-Mobile's U.S. network coverage, your phone automatically switches to using wireless data from another carrier. There's no added charge for the service, but we do have to place reasonable limits on off-network usage.

You'll receive a usage alert when you've reached 80% of your monthly domestic data roaming usage allotment; then you'll receive a second alert when you reach 100%.

Eligibility

Roaming allotments for Magenta, T-Mobile ONE, or Simple Choice plans

If you have one of our recent plans (such as Magenta, T-Mobile ONE, or Simple Choice plans activated on or after November 15, 2015), then you're eligible for 200 MB of domestic data roaming.

Roaming allotments for other/older plans

Your data roaming eligibility depends on your full-speed data allotment, whether you're on one of our older Simple Choice plans (activated before November 15, 2015) or other older plans. To determine this allotment, follow these steps:

  1. Go to My T-Mobile, and log in to your account.
  2. Click Plan at the top of the page.
  3. Find the line you want to check.
  4. Click the +next to DATA SERVICE.
  5. Check the bill details to see what it lists as your limit for high-speed data.
  6. Check the following table:

  • You will not be charged for domestic data roaming.
  • However, once your domestic data roaming allotment has been reached, your data services will be unavailable until you return to a T-Mobile coverage area or your bill cycle starts over.
  • If you have a Wi-Fi-capable device, you can still connect to Wi-Fi to access data in non-T-Mobile coverage areas.
  • To reduce data usage when roaming:
    • Use Wi-Fi whenever possible, especially when streaming or downloading.
    • Adjust the settings in your phone to disable data roaming. Head over to the Devices page, select your device, and you'll find steps to change these settings.
    • Set email and other social networking applications that synchronize data to "manual" mode instead of "automatic" or "push," so you can control when you are syncing data.
  • Android phones can use applications like My Data Manager to track and control usage. It's not a T-Mobile application and doesn't show exact network usage, but it may be useful for general reference.

Monitor your domestic data roaming

You'll receive a free usage alert via text message to notify you once you use 80% of your monthly domestic data roaming allotment, and another when you reach 100%. These text messages contain a link that allows you to view your real-time usage.

You can also view your domestic data usage by using the T-Mobile app on your device once you have exceeded 80% of your monthly full-speed data or domestic data roaming allotments.

There may be times when your device still attempts to roam or use another carrier's network, even when you're within the T-Mobile coverage area. If you’d like to limit this, see the Things to keep in mind above.

What can I do if I used my domestic data roaming allotment?

Once your domestic data roaming allotment has been reached, your data services won't be available until you return to a T-Mobile coverage area, your bill cycle starts over, or you buy a Domestic Data Roaming Pass (not available for the Tourist Plan).

If you have a Wi-Fi-capable device, you can access data on any available Wi-Fi connection. Most data services aren't available when you reach your domestic data roaming allotment.

You can call 611 from your T-Mobile number, or call T-Mobile Customer Service at 1-800-937-8997, to purchase one of the following data passes:

  • A 1-Day 10 MB Domestic Roaming Data Pass costs $10
  • A 7-Day 50 MB Domestic Roaming Data Pass costs $15

I’m getting sick of there coverage in my area, I checked the coverage on the coverage map and it says that it’s high speed LTE data in my area and that’s a lie, sometimes I have no service at all, and sometimes I get EDGE and when it’s raining and cloudy then I have no signal at all. Someone please fix this, I love —mobile but I only have so much patience with them.
