Google Nexus bought from T-Mobile

Greetings everyone!

I am looking to purchase  google Nexus 7 from T-Mobile online. I have T-Mobile service on my Nexus 5.

My question is this:

I am wanting to use my Nexus 7 at work in the Texas Medical Center(Houston, TX).

T-Mobile has almost ZERO reception there. I mean like 0.01% reception.

I have an older Nexus 7 that I used a ATT SIM in - strictly a data SIM from ATT, as I do not have any phone service with them..........

can I put the ATT SIM into the T-Mobile purchased Nexus 7 just to use it there in the Medical Center?
