set default account for new calendar item? (redux)

(Re-post, since TMO decided my previous thread wasn't active enough -- but I never got close to an answer.)

Hi,

I have HTC One S, Android 4.1.1, Sense is I think listed as "4+."

I have an account for work that's on an Exchange 2010 server. -- my work calendar info is there.  I also have my Google account, which holds my personal calendar info.

I use the stock calendar app to show info from both calendars.  Sync works fine.  Displaying both calendars works fine.

What doesn't work fine is that, when I add a new item to the calendar, it always defaults to Exchange -- even though Google is first in the list (which is not alphabetical) when I go to change it on a new item.  I ALWAYS want to default to Google calendar.  I can't find a way to set it.

I poked around a bit, and there was some talk that the last calendar you used becomes the default next time.  I tested and that is not my experience -- it ALWAYS defaults to Exchange.  Even if that did work for me (which it does not), I think Exchange syncs after Google, and I have no control over order of sync, so Exchange is probably going to be the last-touched calendar 95% of the time.

Is there a way to set the stock app to use Google as the default account for a new event?  Is there some other free, ad-less, non-megalomaniac (as in "wants to take over everything") app that will allow me to set the account that's used for a new event?

Thanks in advance....

ADDITIONAL SINCE PREVIOUS POST:  I don't think this has anything to do with my Exchange server, since the Exchange server is just a server -- it doesn't determine settings on my phone.  That's got to be something in the app on the phone.  How about this: Pretend there's no Exchange server involved:  Given that I sync to multiple calendars, how do I set the account that is used by default when I add new calendar item from my phone?
