Why does the Handset Protection Plan not provide a comparable replacement phone?

$

I have to start off by saying I have always liked being a T-Mobile customer and have found that I have been treated best by them compared to other carriers over the years.  However, I am extremely frustrated with T-Mobile right now.  My wife's LG G3 is 15 months old and has been on the Jump plan which I really got for the Handset Protection.  Her phone recently started malfunctioning and won't stop shutting down and rebooting over and over and over.  I contacted T-Mobile and they said they would replace it per the protection plan.  But here's the problem.  The LG G3 phone that is malfunctioning has a 5.5 inch screen and 32GB memory.  They are telling me they will only replace it with a Samsung S5 that has a 5.1 inch screen and 16GB memory.  That is not a comparable phone and is not "like type and quality" as their protection plan states.  The S5 they are trying to give me is of lesser value and does not have the memory nor the larger screen that were two of the biggest selling points when I bought the original phone.  I've talked to a T-Mobile rep and her manager to try to resolve this and all they keep telling me is that I can expand the memory myself (which still ignores the screen size issue) or Jump to a new phone.  How is that handset protection?  They even transferred me to their "customer loyalty department" but all I got was the same story about expanding memory and jumping to a new phone.  What was worse is this rep kept talking over me as I was trying to explain that their solution was not acceptable.  I asked to speak to her manager and she said I was speaking to the highest level possible.  Really?  I'm pretty sure I was not speaking to the CEO.  I suggested to her that if the G3 was no longer available, then just sent me the LG G4 that is on the T-Mobile website because it is comparable.  I was not even asking for a new one, just a refurb since the protection plan says they will replace phones with refurbs first but new ones only if refurbs are not available.  Her response?  She said it was impossible.  Really?  Impossible for the "uncarrier?"  I don't think I'm being unreasonable and I don't think my solution is costly to T-Mobile.  How can T-Mobile call themselves the "uncarrier" with poor customer service like this?

T-Mobile Galaxy S7/S7E Bootloader Unlock Petition/Discussion

$

Dear T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7/S7E users,

I have created this discussion to make a central location for us to discuss unlocking the bootloader on the G-930T/G-935T.

For those who do not know what I am referring to, please read the following email to John Legere from myself:

Good Evening,

I am writing this email to you in hopes that at the executive level, T-Mobile will do right by their customers.

For the past several years, Samsung Galaxy devices on Tmobile have shipped with an unlocked bootloader, allowing T-Mobile users and Android enthusiasts to run (and test)  custom software which helps better the Android community as a whole. For me, this was the one and only reason I left Verizon Wireless years ago, so that I could continue to enjoy my device and test applications freely on  T-Mobile.

This brought thousands of other Verizon and AT&T customers over as well, as we had all believed in John Legere and his "Uncarrier" mission. Sadly, with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Tmobile users have lost the ability to OEM unlock their device and have joined the ranks of Verizon and AT&T.

I am writing to you urging you to do right by your customers and unlock the Galaxy S7/Edge. However small the root user community may be, we tend to be the loudest and most passionate Android users in the world. If we cannot unlock our devices through T-Mobile, we will be forced to go elsewhere. This would be a sad day for tmobile considering many of your own employees belong to this community.

I know this cannot be high on the list of action items your team has on their plate, however I urge you to do right by us and do what needs to be done to put this to rest.  Please do not join the ranks of Verizon and AT&T by allowing these devices to be locked down like fort Knox.

Respectfully,

Mike D.

Galaxy S5 not Receiving All Texts

I have seen that others have commented with similar issues, and the title says it all.  For a few weeks now, I haven't been receiving all of the texts people have sent to me.  Some will come through, but oftentimes they'll go unreceived regardless of connection to WiFi.  Because of this, I have missed out on some important texts

Latest security firmware G930TUVU3APG1 causing data drops

Latest security firmware G930TUVU3APG1 causing cell data drops and forcing calls to use Wifi even though I have Wifi calling set to prefer cellular. The calls always work even over cellular. And if I turn off and on the wifi, it clears the message about Wifi calling and my browsing will work again instantly as well. But then the same day, it will happen again. This happens now every day since I got this July 1st, 2016 update last week. And on 2 phones, both the S7 (non-edge).

Text and MMS message delivery reports are switched on in settings but i do not receive any delivery reports when i send a text on my S7 edge. I believe this is a T-mobile issue because i was out of the country (so on a different network) and when i sent a text there i was receiving the delivery reports but not since I've come back to the US and on T-mobile network again?

GPS stopped working after marshmallow update

$

So I recently did the update to Marshmallow on my LG G Stylo, and ever since then my GPS isn't working at all. When I use maps I can see the device pick up my location (probably through Wi-Fi or cell towers), but it doesn't track my drive like it used to. I even tried GPS Toolbox from the App store (this used to help me out on some other device) but with no luck.

Anything else I can look at doing?

New My T-Mobile App Seems to be the Old

$

I have version 4.6.4.6 installed on LG G4 H811.  Play Store prompted me to update.  I did, but still old version remains.  I had seen a few 5.x versions in the wild, but the Play Store shows the new all-magenta styling. The app page doesn't specify an actual version # or even state "varies by device."   Not a huge issue considering a lot of folks are commenting in the ratings that the app will not connect to the account and instead refers to the mobile web version.  I haven't had any issues other than the widget graphic seeming to be a bit garbled.  I knew there was an update rumored due to the change with Binge On, where you have faster access to an on/off "switch" and figured there might be other changes and improvements to the app itself.  Like I said, not a big deal, but it is strange that the app page on GPStore looks new and the version didn't change either during the update.

Anyone with some insight?

No "JUST ONCE" option in open with pop up

$

0

The new 6.0 update seems to have removed the ability to open a file or a link without setting a default. When you click a HTML link for example, in previous versions you got the ability to pick a web browser to open it in and 2 options: "just once" and "always". "Always" sets your selected browser as default and never prompts you again while "just once" lets you open with your selected browser and prompts you again in the future. In 6.0 it just automatically sets your pick as the default.

Screenshot (July 18, 2016 10-59 PM).png

As you can see in the image above, if I selected Chrome, it would become the default for weblinks and this "open with" popup will never show again; Chrome will always launch. Is there a way to restore the previous functionality? I'm using an app called "better open with" to solve some of my problems for the time being.

Unlocked LG G5: No WiFi calling?

I just recently bought this off Amazon and already inserted SIM card into it and is working like a normal phone. However, I don't see any option to enable WiFi calling in settings.  I followed T-Mobile's guide to enabling it but I don't see any WiFi calling setting. Does it just not work for this device?

When I hit the power button the screen comes on but its not full brightness and kind of slowly over a second or two increases brightness (kind of like a reverse fade). Didn't do this with Marshmallow... it use to just go full bright right away. Anyway to fix this?
