Ok so I heard about this new plans and I got excited, I was curious to see what they were all about. Its not any better and infact worse then my current Value Plan. Let me example, and please anyone reading this correct me if I am wrong because I am confused.
I have a Value family plan with 2 lines. We got 1000 anytime minutes, unlimted text and data(2gb highspeed). The plan is $80 a month. We had to pay full price for the phones and we opted to pay monthly so add on $35 to that $80 plus tax and its around $120 a month.
These new plans are supposedly a better value. Okay so for references I choose one of the new plans to see what I can get. I picked 2 lines, the unlimited minutes, messaging and again 2gb(actually 2,5gbs cause 500mbs are included) highspeed data. $100 for this. Already more but we get unlimited minutes and a bit more highspeed data. Not bad I guess as long as we can get the phones at the discounted prices, but NO, we have to pay full price for the phones with these new plans. We will opt to pay monthly. So now, add on $35 to that $100 monthly plan and its MORE then what we pay now. In reality we can pay off our phones and pay $80 a month for our current service. Do the same with the new plans and it will be $20 more a month. For WHAT? What if I dont need unlimited minutes? I use WiFi wisely so I dont ever go near the 2gb limit anyway. $20 more for that? Seriously? If we didn't have to pay full price for the phones I'd say that its a great deal, but we have to pay for the phones. They made the down payment cheaper(from what I seen) but we still have to pay the same amount for the phone, again another trick to try to fool us.
Is this more options to this or is this it? Cause if it is, they need to rethink it cause its nothing but a repackaged pitch if not making us pay more. Please someone tell me if I am thinking wrong about this or if I can change teh unlimited minutes to something else to get lower monthly rate?
