Data speed throttled on iPad

$
0
0

I am on T-Mobile ONE plan with 3 lines.

2 of those lines are in phones and get about 150 mbps in my location.

3rd line was just put into an iPad Pro with Cellular but is only getting 0.5 mbps in the same location.

That same sim card is getting 150 mbps when installed into one of the phones.

Just to clarify, the iPad is NOT on a hotspot, it has a physical sim card installed directly into it.

Is this throttling normal? Do I need to switch the iPad's line to some special "tablet" plan and if yes, how would I do it?

Buyer's Remorse about three weeks later

Called customer service today to see if I could cancel the purchase plan on my phone. Long story short, I was in a bind, tried to port over my sprint device and he told me he wasn't able to, so I had to buy an iPhone X. I now found out that it could have happened from Sprint, but the guy didn't try to do it? So today when I called in to tmobile service to find out how I could return the new phone, even willing to pay a restocking fee, I was told it would be $939 to return the phone. How does that even make sense? I'm going to pay in full and give you the device back? Then she explained the 14 day rule, which is not what I was led to believe. When I asked in the store how long I had to bring it back, the guy told me a month.

I was about to switch my entire family (add three more lines of service) and purchase a couple of new devices in the next year. No longer. After the "customer service" I received today, I am done with this company. Here's hoping Sprint will take me back and pay off this ridiculous contract.

I was told at a store in Redmond that I can return my phone with in 30 days if it was shipped to me. I walk in to store to return and the guy in-store asks me to call 611 to process the return and yes he did said again I have 30 DAYS TO RETURN. I call 611 and they give me a totally different story and they wouldn't take my return ( I have 7 days left out of 30 days).

I switched from a different carrier and my experience so far with T-Mobile has been testing my patience. It is so frustrating and annoying that why is there difference in what a guy in store and over phone tells. As a customer I rely of T-Mobile folks to give me the right information. I feel trapped and victim as a result of some one not giving me the right information.

What do I do in this case? Just live with the phone I didn't like and keep paying T-Mobile?  Just ridiculous....

Text from T-Mobile about roaming usage.

Hi everybody,

I would like to know what is the limit for the international roaming per T-Mobile terms.

I have spent 16 days in Thailand, then 13 days in USA, and then vacation 16 days in France and Switzerland.

I came back 5 days ago home, and today I am receiving the text attached below.

Very surprising too that I have been purchasing a pass 15GB International Pass.

I purchased it 2 times in a row.

If it is a problem to use our phone abroad, I would like to understand why we can get a pass for 30 days, et why we are allowed to purchase a new one.

Does T-Mobile just want our money without the right to use the benefit we paid for ?

Seriously, for $50, I could have use my phone a lot. I didn't call enough to cover the cost of $50 at $0.25/minutes. And regarding the data, on the first pass I took for Thailand, I used less than 3GB, and for my trip in Europe, less than 3GB too.

I took the 15GB because 10 days was just not enough.

I then do not understand the text message I received, and why I am receiving it.

Any explanation would be very helpful. Thank you.

The text I received today :

The majority of the recent T-Mobile usage on line xxxxxxxxxx has been roaming internationally. Per our terms and conditions roaming benefits are not intended for extensive use abroad.  You can use Wi-Fi to reduce your international usage. See details: t-mo.co/roaming

iPhone 11 Pro Max Paid Off & T-Mobile DO NOT KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK!!!!

Bought a Brand New iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB. T-mobile is running on my E-sim right now and would like to use my second business line under the sim card. Its been one week and T-mobile doesn't know how to unlock a dual sim phone. It shouldn't take this long. I pay off the device when I bought it and I request an unlock and this is what T-mobile send me. Its been a week and 3 days. T-mobile customer service has really deteriorated over the last year. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

10 YEAR customer that is considering going to VERIZON.

Iphone 11 delayed for almost 2 months

Hi guys, just curious if anyone else has had their shipment pending date changed? I ordered the mint green iphone 11 for my wife on September 19th, the pending ship date was October 15th-29th. It is now showing November 13th-29th for pending ship date. I have been searching other forums to see if there is indeed an Iphone 11 shortage. It just seems crazy to me that it would take 2 months to get a phone.

Price differences between Pre and Postpaid plans

I’m currently paying $30 for 5GB on my phone with tethering, and $10 for 5GB over 5 months on my iPad with tethering. I was hoping to add a third line for an Apple Watch, but learned that isn’t allowed by T-Mobile. They recommend a post paid plan instead, but they all seem to be around $100 per month for similar services as I currently have ($70 magenta plan + $20 for iPad + $10 for the watch).

Am I missing something here?  Why would post paid plans be more expensive? Why can’t I get another one of those $10/5GB data only plans for the  watch? I rationally understand these may all be intentional hurdles to make us pay for more expensive plans, but this seemed so entirely out of line that I’m doubting myself and wanted a sanity check from the community. I got cheated by T-Mobile, please be careful.

All,

Please be careful and spread the word to not be cheated. I was an AT&T customer and T-mobile offered be a dual promotion (BOGO - Buy one Get one Free; and Carrier freedom - T-mobile would pay for what is remaining on my AT&T phone up to $650 per phone). I know of few friends who switched to T-mobile because of this great promotion. So, I decided to switch as well. I called on Dec 21st, 2017 and T-mobile confirmed the dual promotion and I got 4 lines & phones. My new T-mobile phones arrived only on 27th. When I switched from AT&T to T-mobile, and called T-mobile to understand how to claim the dual promotions. Now, it looks like the dual promotions have ended and they are now offering me only one of the two (BOGO or Carrier Freedom).

So, my first day of T-mobile experience itself, I felt cheated. I spoke to several managers and retention department supervisors andt what was even more disgusting was they were saying these two programs cannot be combined and were never offered. I know of friends who got these offers and I know my calls to them on Dec 21st were recorded and I asked them to review them. They would not...I asked if I can return the phones and switch back to AT&T and they said I would be charged $75 re-stocking fee per phone.

My learning from this experience is that T-mobile is no better and may be worse than AT&T. My initial experience itself was horrible. Please do not fall in this trap and spread the word.

Bought new phones, paid in full, showing as EIP

I setup a new account today and paid in full for 4 new phones under a promotion through Costco. I'm not sure why, but somehow one of the phones is showing up as EIP even though I paid for it in full (I have receipts). How can I resolve this? Is this a T-Mobile problem or a Costco problem? I signed up because of a promotion and don't want to mess things up.

Issue with Friends and Family 2 Lines on Us and free tablet promo

Back in 2016, my wife and I signed up for the Friends and Family 2 Lines on Us deal where we also got two tablets. Originally, we got Coolpads, but ended up going to an authorized service center, and they switched us out with two LG Gpads. The authorized service center really screwed up our account. We're only getting one line for free under this plan, and have only been getting that line free since the beginning. We've called customer support multiple times and it's still not completely resolved. They say they can't add that line under the promo as the promo is gone, but I feel we should be given credit back where we've been paying for that line. Has anyone else had this much of a problem after going to an authorized service center and not a corporate store? This has currently been an extra $25 per month that we've been paying for almost two years. Not to mention the fact we have another device on our account that we're paying for that was returned long ago. We've been long time customers. The last time we called, we were told it would be escalated and we would be called back. That never happened.

Our account was screwed up quite a bit. We had items put on an EIP plan that were supposed to be credited, but weren't because they were associated with the wrong device. I regret signing up for that "free" promo as it's been a huge headache.

Digits app problems

My first experience with T-mobile phone support . :-(

Hello, I am new to T-Mobile and to this community. I just moved my 6 lines from ATT (after a couple of decades of being their customers) to T-Mobile. I open the new account on November 12. Today I received my first T-mobile bill. It says: period of service November 12 2019-November 12 2019. Payment due by December 5. Amount $205.

First question: this is a post-paid account, why am I receiving a bill not even a week after I started the service?

Second: what does the service period November 12 2019-November 12 mean? One day?

Third: I signed up for auto-pay, but the discount is not reflected in this bill. The monthly total should be $180, not $205. (Please note that one of the six lines is free thanks to the T-mobile promotion to get the third line free.)

I called the T-mobile support line. The person on the phone simply could not understand my questions, especially about the service period. He kept going over the details of my bill, explaining the charges one by one, but that is not what I had asked. There was definitely a language barrier, but I suspect that was not the only problem.

So what is the best way for me to get answers to these questions?

Thank you all for any help you can provide.

T-mobile won't unlock my phone, despite the fact that my account is in good standing.

Hello,

First post ever. I'm not usually one to posts things but this issue has me going crazy (and hating on T-mobile even though I've been one to like their service for years).

I finished paying my iPhone 6 a few months ago, and I pay my bill on time every month. I asked T-mobile to unlock my iPhone 6 since I will be traveling abroad this week (I put in the first request 2 weeks before my trip). They have sent me an email saying my phone has been unlock and then another email saying they haven't been able to unlock it, every time I call to request it being unlock. This has been very frustrating as I have erased my phone and settings every time they send me the first email !! (it takes my phone about 2 hours or more to reset all the info)!

I have contacted Apple and they have been very clear on saying that their database shows the phone as being locked to T-mobile but they can't do anything unless T-mobile. Finally some nice dude who is an Apple tech in T-mobile customer service found that somehow the issue was that I exchanged my iPhone through the insurance a while back and they do this through Verizon or something of sorts... who knows? He says they will have to send me a new phone and I have to talk to the Insurance people.. he then goes on to ask if my iPhone 6 has any physical damage.. and it does!! So he knows says that I would have to pay a 175 USD deductible (or a quantity of sorts)  for them to send me a new phone that they can actually unlock!!!

I have already finished paying my iPhone and the crack at the bottom corner of it does NOT bother ME!! I do not care to get a new phone with no damage and so I think it is unfair they want to charge me because they for some reason ARE NOT CAPABLE of unlocking my phone!! I was not even thinking of changing carriers at this point and only want my phone unlocked because I am traveling out of the country!

By this point I have spend about 3 hrs (in separate calls) on the phone with either T-mobile or Apple, and are beyond frustrated as my trip is coming up... I should be worrying about what to pack and not the fact that my phone is locked even though I comply with all requirements for it to be unlocked by T-mobile .

Thanks

Chrome Uses Background Data Despite Its Background Data Has Been DISALLOWED in Android Setups

Android Chrome eats LOTS of background mobile data on my phone. This is despite the fact that in Android setups I DISALLOWED Chrome to use background data (i.e., Settings -> Connections -> Data usage -> Mobile data usage -> Chrome -> the toggle "Allow background data usage" is "off").

My mobile data usage comes from a single web site where I listen to audio books. I keep only that single tab open in Chrome. Normal data usage from that site is around 0.5 ... 1 MB foreground data per minute and zero background data. However, on some random days (every 2-5 days) I find that Chrome used up LOTS of background data, at a rate around 10 ... 30 MB background data per minute.

This happened, for example, on Sept 25, 2019 -- see the following two screenshots. The time difference between them is 8 minutes. In those 8 minutes, Chrome (with a single tab open), used 10 MB foreground data and 130 MB of background data. This, despite the fact that "Allow background data usage" toggle was "off".

qKDtEl.jpgGJtunl.jpg

See another screenshot of Sept. 18 2019 showing data usage by Chrome. Note that between September 8th and 18th, Chrome used 1.8 GB background mobile data in addition to using 0.2 GB foreground mobile data. The toggle "Allow background data usage" has been "off" since before Sept. 8th.

Switch to T-Mobile from AT&t.

I switched October 13th from AT&t to T-Mobile. I switched over with a Sony xz-2. Which has been 12 but is not certified with T-Mobile definitely does not have band 71. Seems to work but when I do speed test it seems pretty slow on the speed test. Good morning at the speedtest.net app is working or not.

I did bring over a note 8 which has band 12 and it certified on T-Mobile, have not test that one out fully yet.

I was just wondering because I have full signal on my Sony xz-2 but it's still only pulling down about two to three megabits download. Where I am at currently. Which is sylmar California.

Any helpful insights would be greatly appreciated.

Tmobile home internet clixkthrough link errors

When I am connected to the tmobile home internet (through my orbi mesh) I am unable to click through on links but instead get a 404 not found error. This includes any link from an app  or even an email. This seems to be directly caused by my switch over to tmobile vs the comcast I had before. It is an issue on my computer as well as android phone. It seems to never redirect but error out instead. It also does not seem to be a cache issue. Thoughts?
