Disabling FamilyMode

My son seems to have figured ou that you can disable FamilyMode by simply turning off VPN in the iPhone’s general settings. Is it really that easy to disable the app and make it useless?

My Smart Lock Trusted Places only works half the time.  The other times I have to use bio metrics to unlock the phone. I have it set up for my home address.  Location is turned on and I don't have corporate email installed.

LG K30 doesn't send text alerts via blue tooth

My previous LG phone, running Android 4, would send text messages over blue tooth to my cars' blue tooth enabled radios. The LG K30 with Android 7 does not. The one radio even says the device is not compatible with blue tooth messaging.  Any solutions?

Switched S9 from Verizon to T-Mobile - Phone won't rebrand

BYOD from Verizon to T-Mobile.  I brought my S9 and my wife brought her S8+.  Lot long after the port-in process was complete, my wife's S8+ downloaded the T-Mobile app and the look/location of the status bar icons changed to the T-Mobile 'motif'; my phone hasn't changed at all.  When I go to update software, it was telling me my device was not authorized, but now it says the device is up to date.  However, the Verizon apps are still there and won't uninstall and the Service provider SW ver. is: SAOMC-SM-G960U_OYN_VZW_OO_0077 (notice the VZW) and the last line in that section reads: VZW/VZW/VZW.  My wife's phone has a last line of TMB/TMB/VZW (notice the TMB).

Called T-Mobile and got completely clueless reps that claim "once it's a Verizon phone, it's always a Verizon phone!"  Really?, then explain my wife's phone that I purchased from the same Verizon store a few months earlier.

The Samsung website says that once a new SIM is installed that the old provider software would be uninstalled and the new provider's software would be installed as long as it is an unlocked phone (mine is because I have T-Mobile service and if it's locked it would be SIM locked to Verizon and my service with T-Mobile wouldn't work).  Samsung's website even has a by-carrier list of the apps that are forced on you for your type of device.  So, I call Samsung.  They try everything they can: they assure me that my phone can be rebranded (duh, my wife's already is), they tell me to install SmartSwitch on my computer but it doesn't give me the option to update (even after a full phone backup), then he tells me to wait for the next firmware update and keep my fingers crossed.  Since when was "pray" added to the tech support flow charts?

It appears that those who get paid to help have no clue how, so now I'm turning to this community for assistance.  Any ideas on what else I can try?

MMS "New multimedia message. Receive?"

All MMS I receive show the message "New multimedia message. Receive?" followed by a Download button. But tapping Download doesn't do anything.

I recently switched from AT&T to T-Mobile and this has been happening since the switch.

I'm using a factory unlocked LG G6 (I did not buy it from AT&T) and the standard Messaging app in Android. The phone is running Android 8.

Any ideas how to fix?

Thanks.

Text message recipients limit

Why are text messages limited to 10 recipients and how do I increase that number? I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsing says the limit is controlled entirely by the service provider (i.e. T-Mobile) and not limited by the device.

Cellspot incompatible with Spectrum (Charter, Brighthouse, TW)

After two years my cellspot would not sync. I returned it and was sent another V.1 although I requested a V.2. I spoke with a tech advisor at T-Mobile last night and he confirmed that Spectrum Cable and similar companies have been doing digital upgrades across the country rendering existing Cellspots incompatible. I was told that they are awaiting parameters from the Spectrum so that the cellspots can work again.

FYI:

The Tech advisor said it was possible that it would sync after a few days if I left it on and didn't reset anything on the modem, router or cellspot.

Anyone else having this problem ?

When returning a cellspot, the instructions indicate you can send it back via a UPS shipping label or to a T-Mobile store. The latter was not possible as this was tried yesterday. Apparently they cannot input a device that did not come from their store since they did not have a code for the main warehouse and could not get one from customer service.

S7 Battery Drain With Oreo Update

Hello.  Recently updated my S7 to Oreo and am experiencing severe battery drain.  A full charge only lasts about 5 hours, which is a significant decrease since the upgrade.  I've seen a few threads online where suggesting this is a bug with Oreo, but have not found a solution.  Thoughts or suggestions to fix this?  Thank you!

Poor signal reception but T-mobile Map claims otherwise.

T-mobile,

Your claim that there is an 'excellent signal' at where I am located is false.  Your maps indicate that there is 4G LTE 'excellent signal' and that 4G LTE 700 (Mhz) is available here.  I recently got an iphone 6s and tested it here but to my disappointment, the signal strength is 'weak' at best and poor and spotty most of the time.  Something as simple as a line of text takes tens of minutes to send and at times, doesn't send at all because it times out.  Your website:  Extended Range LTE | 600 MHz & 700 MHz Spectrum Phones | T-Mobile indicates that iphone 6s does support 4G LTE 700 (Mhz), but in reality and many times, there is no data coverage at all (i.e. data coverage that doesn't work).  This phone actually did worse than my older iphone 5s which didn't do all that well either, which was the reason I looked for phones that support more 4G LTE bands and technologies.  Now, I'll probably return my iphone 6s.

I believe that such false information should NOT be released to public as it could be deemed a false advertising that leads consumers to wasted efforts, time and money.  Therefore, I have come to a conclusion that T-mobile is just not honest with what it once claimed: 'best cell network'.

I have tried 3 different T-mobile phones here and they all get very poor reception here.  I have made sure that network/cell carrier/data settings are set correctly on these phones.  Because phones are made to 'look for' the best network/signal, the phones use up a lot of battery power to do so.  This drains battery like crazy on the phones that have excellent battery performance otherwise (i.e. while connected on wifi or in areas where a good 4G LTE is available).  I've been trying to get good data coverage here for the last several years, but to no avail.  Are you planning on providing a good data coverage here?  Or, at least be honest and stop saying that 'excellent signal' is available here.

CATS VS DOGS Contest

$

Hey, T-Mobile Community! Not sure if you all know this, but August is home to two pretty amazing holidays! On 8/8, we have "World Cat Day", and on 8/26, we have "National Dog Day". We know that cats have typically ruled the internetz since its inception, but we wanted to run a little contest to settle the debate. With August being Back to School month, what more appropriate prizes are there than a couple of sweet T-Mobile backpacks?!

CAT_DOG2.png

The contest:

Starting today, 8/3/2018, through 8/26/2018, we want to see pictures of your furry family members! If you don't have a cat or a dog, you can post a picture of a friend's/family member's four-legged buddy, or any picture of your favorite cat or dog.

Basically, if you're a cat person, post a picture of a feline, and if you're a dog person, post a picture of a canine. We'll tally up the submissions and whichever species gets the most pictures posted will be the winning team. Then we'll pick 2 random submissions from that group as the contest winners, and announce them here in the Magenta Lounge.

How to play:

  1. Determine if you are a cat person or a dog person (this is a tough one).
  2. Take a picture of your cat or dog or find your favorite cat/dog picture.
  3. Post the picture in the comments below. Feel free to tell us a little about the subject of your photo as well!

Rules:

  1. Photos must be posted before 11:59 PM ET 8/26/2018 to qualify
  2. Cat/Dog memes are also completely acceptable.
  3. Full list of rules can be found here Support Community Cats vs Dogs Sweesptakes Rules

Super slow data on Umidigi Z2 phone

$

Hi there.  I just got Umidigi Z2 phone as an experiment.  It connects to the LTE network without any problems.  It makes phone calls without any problems.  Without WiFi, I get a good speed (55x5) on the Speedtest.  But when it comes to actually downloading things, it is super slow.  Youtube loads forever, Google Play takes forever to download anything, etc.  I know it's most likely the settings but just can't figure what to change.  When running the Speedtest, it somehow shows the server being AT&T and then T-Mobile.  Any suggestions?

Does having One Plus or One International immprove the ISP wifi of the home/work network even when not turned on?

$

So I have begun to work the night shift (2pm to 11pm) at my job at a different location and I noticed that the WiFi for their ISP is not as good as my home WiFi or any other business' WiFi.  This was the main reason I wanted to get a USB Internet Stick for my laptop as I tend to watch a lot of streaming live sporting events at night and I could not with the current WiFI connectivity; it would pause so often and have bad viewing quality that one couldn't enjoy watching a game.

However, when I went to a T-Mobile store, they told me that I would paying "an arm and a leg" for a portable hot spot in order to accomplish what I was looking for.  So, they told me that a better option would be to upgrade my monthly data plan from T-Mobile One to T-Mobile One International so I can use my phone an unlimited 4G LTE hot spot so that my laptop could connect to it and be able to stream live sporting event at a high quality level.

So, when I got to work this afternoon, I noticed something drastically different.  Even though both my cell phone and laptop were connect to my job's WiFi, the streaming got incredibly better as there is little to no pause and the viewing quality is acceptable; not HD quality but acceptable.  So my question is this: Is this just a coincidence and will my job's WiFi return to be constantly below average at best.  Or by somehow having the One International Data Plan, did it actually improved my job's WiFi as well?  I mean, it's all connected in some way, although minimal, right?

Bottom line is that, if it was just all a coincidence (and having One International has not affect my job's WiFi performance) but, however, my job's WiFi continues to be working much better than before, then there's no need for me to continue to pay $25 plus extra and I should return to T-Mobile One.  Please advise.

Poor coverage in Southern Wisconsin, West of Paddock Lake

$

Recently joined Tmobile and live in the Chicago area  so far, so good. Went to Lake Geneva over the weekend. Drove 94 to 50 and went West. Once we got past Paddock Lake, either no service or 1 or 2 bars of call only. We were at a hotel on 50 and 12 in Lake Geneva and got no service and no wifi calling inside the hotel. Outside got weak LTE  and went to a restaurant a few miles North got 1 or 2 bars of edge. This is for both phones,  s8 active and iPhone 8. What gives? These are populated areas and well traveled. I would not consider them rural. Does band 12 work there? Will these areas be improved?
